Reading Logs

Book Title: The Secret Life of Bees (Reading LOg #1)

Topic Choice #1, Chapter 1/2:
The main character(s) in the novel that I am reading is Lily Owens, her father Tarrence, and friend Rosaleen. These are very important characters because Lily was a terrifying memory of her mothers death. It wasn't the fact that her mother died, but that she believes that she shot her mother when she was young. Lily's father Tarrence is not a great father. He took his anger out on Lily, being abusive ever since Lily took away his love of his life. Rosaleen is the only mother figure in Lily's life ever since her mom passed away. She has a very big part in Lily's life. Lily is a dynamic character because in the novel she shows through different interactions she grows independence and the understanding of the prejudice. Tarrence has a static character because in the first couple of chapters he is always being against and bitter towards Lily. Rosaleen takes part of a dynamic character this is shown when she tries very hard to become a better friend and person overall. She partakes in these traits in the first chapters.

Book Title: GO ask Alice (Reading LOg #2)

Topic Choice #1:
The main character(s) in this novel are, Alice, "Diary", parents, and Joel. These are very important characters in this novel because all of them have had such an impact on Alice and her drug use life. She has a way of calling her diary a "friend" to talk to when she needs to get something off her mind or heart. In the novel she gets so expressive towards the diary and writes in it how many times that having a diary has saved her life. With Alice's parents they devote themselves to her and care for her. Even with bumps on the journey between the relationship with her and her parents, you can see how they soon get along with each other. Alice writes about how opened she has been with her parents the more she talked to them. Joel is the character that helps Alice get out of her comfort zone and shell. He also teachers her how to trust in others. As someone who has experienced loss before with his mother, he comforts Alice when her mother passes. Alice can be seen as a dynamic character, in the beginning of the novels she speaks in a happy and excited tone.  However, where I had read to he character has changed quite a bit.  Her parents in the beginning of the story they have been there for her until  she decide or win or lose.

Book Title: Twilight (Reading Log #3)

Topic choice #1
Twilight introduces seventeen-year-old Isabella "Bella" Swan who moves from Phoenix, Arizona, to Forks, Washington, and finds her life in danger when she falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen.
Her first week at school, she is told about the odd and mysterious Cullen family who adopted five children, four of whom were dating each other. As Bella attends classes, she finds that the youngest looking Cullen, named Edward, is in her biology class. When she is assigned as his partner for the class, he reacts poorly to her, acting as if he found her repulsive and he believes she is attractive. However, over time Edward warms up to her a bit, no longer glaring when she enters the room, or ignoring her throughout class.
